PROVENANCE : Collection obtained 2001 inside the ash of antique japanese hibachi purchased from toji antique markets kyoto. Prior owners believed the small metal items some 3.5+kg in the ash were a type of *Heat bead designed to make the hibachi more efficient & use less fuel. 2001 ~ 2016 japanese museums could not identify the mumon ginsen, only in june 2016 were the mumon ginsen identified via old 1983 osaka museum exhibition catalog brought from umeda used book store, were 5 mumon ginsen from the shiga collection were featured on page 57. 17/1/2017 nabunken director general Mr keiji matsumura autheticated the collection as ***** genuine ancient japanese mumon ginsen.
